Grandma's Shop is written and performed by Julie Flower.  Dramaturgy and direction is by Sarah Chew.  It previewed in Brighton, Tunbridge Wells and London, and premiered at Edinburgh Fringe 2024, at the Gilded Balloon.

The show is a solo theatrical comedy drama which follows the life of an extraordinary shopkeeper, against the backdrop of 1980s Sheffield.  Join Julie as she carries out family history research with a difference!

​

Julie Flower is an award-winning improviser, an actor and writer, originally from Sheffield, and now based in Kent.  She is also a leadership development facilitator and coach, with a background in public service and charity leadership, whose work is influenced by her psychologically-informed coaching and interest in human development.  Time hops, multi-character perspectives and finding the fantastical in the everyday or mundane are all part of her work.

She is part of improv duo Twinprov and AI-informed improv group Improbotics as well as new-writing theatre group Orange Works.  She has performed in a successful Edinburgh Fringe run with Improbotics at The Gilded Balloon (2023) and a number of other successful Edinburgh runs with Orange Works (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023). 

 

She has also performed at improv festivals internationally.  2024 will include teaching improv internationally, in Scandinavia and the USA.  Julie incorporates improv into her work and research with leaders and teams, as well as in her teaching at Henley Business School and the National Film and Television School.
